Cody News

Congratulations Elizabeth!

This is Elizabeth Savary, a crossing guard for 13 years at Maurice Cody Public School. She keeps a supply of coins to loan those who forget money for Freezie Friday and has a stash of winter hats, mitts and scarves for those who need to dress more warmly for the walk home. She always has treats for the neighbourhood dogs and she is one of three 2019 CANADA’S FAVORITE CROSSING GUARD WINNERS! Click here to read all about Parachute and their mission “Creating a safer Canada by preventing serious and fatal injuries through evidence-based solutions that advocate and educate.” We had a chance to interview the fabulous Elizabeth and learn more about her. Earth Week at Cody

From April 23rd to 26th Cody participated in a week long recognition of our earth. From color days to represent different aspects of our planet to poster contests, symbolic animal adoptions and then a neighborhood cleanup! Huge thank you to our Green Team for setting this all up for us!

Cross Safe Program now available in Davisville Village

Five busy intersections received the Cross Safe program to help pedestrians be more visible when they cross streets. Look for the bright orange flags at:
  • Cleveland + Soudan
  • Cleveland + Hillsdale
  • Cheston + Belsize
  • Forman + Manor
  • Forman + Millwood
Check out our Safety section for all the exciting details! Street safety is a major priority at Cody but did you know we are supposed to have crossing guards on many of our very busy intersections? Our Safety Committee is working hard to advocate for these crossing guards, and are working closely with Councillor Robinson and Trustee Cheros-Lin. We have recently been informed by PC Lau, the School Crossing Guard Coordinator from 53 Division of the following: On Tuesday, February 19, Neptune Security Service has set this as the target date to have a permanent back fill on these locations: • Cleveland St. and Millwood Rd. • Cleveland St. and Davisville Av. • Cleveland St. and Merton St.
